SUNNYSIDE Looking back at the many, many city managers over the last many years makes one wonder if the end of days are near?
Donald Day now calling it quits, all of a sudden, makes one wonder if a coup has happened with the election of a new mayor? That’s not to say Sunnyside didn’t need a new one and not to say the new one will be any better.
I must praise Bob Stockwell, the ex-city manager, and Day for surviving the revelation of not being crucified by the City Council and Sunnyside residents. (I was watching for a cross to be erected by the former Funny Farm business. I cannot figure out how certain people with such huge ego’s and arrogance did not get the best of them?
Well, perhaps the orthopedic surgeons replaced many a shoulder with all the back patting by those whom lacked the fundamentals of representing those whom did not vote for them. Not sure I am allowed to say this, but thank God for the Port of Sunnyside for holding this town together and bringing in new businesses. Having left it up to the City Council, we would be a suburb of Outlook.
Well, I thank Donald Day for being a genius somehow and putting up with the rhetoric of those whom think with an empty cranial cavity.
Not sure over the last 20 years if ignorance or arrogance ran this city into the grave? Put Jay Hester in as city manager. He has done a tremendous job as port manager.
