Support for Bengie Aguilar

I am writing to voice my support for Bengie Aguilar, who is a candidate from the 15th Legislative District for state senator.

I have known Bengie and her husband Dan for more than 20 years, and have been welcomed into their home on many occasions.

In the time that I have known Bengie, she has always been involved in efforts to better the community, whether it be through city government, her church, voter registration, or numerous other community service groups.

Community service is just part of who she is. Furthermore, she brings honesty, enthusiasm, and the best intentions to everything she does. These characteristics make her a natural leader, one who truly cares about people.

Anyone who has spent time with her knows that she is a very positive person who constantly encourages others and always has a kind word. She has severed on numerous boards and committees and also the Sunnyside City Council. Whatever the role or capacity she has served in, she has always shown herself to be a leader.

One example of her leadership that I can personally speak to is that she was instrumental in getting the Sunnyside City Council, despite stiff resistance from other council members, to recognize Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

Bengie is proud of her cultural heritage, but she emphasizes that she is not running as a Hispanic candidate. She wants to represent everyone.

Please join me in voting for Bengie Aguilar as our next state senator from the 15th Legislative District.
