MABTON Britnee Guerrero has officially signed on to play basketball at Walla Walla University.
“We are excited to have Britnee,” said WWU Sports Information Director Paul Starkebaum. “All she’s done here is special, and she is such a nice kid. That is one thing I’m excited about is the group we have is just a bunch of nice kids.”
While enrolled in high school, Guerrero earned her Associates Degree at Yakima Valley Community College. She also made the Presidents List while enrolled, according to Tanya Ibarra.
“She has a desire to do more,” Ibarra said.
“Britnee goes above and beyond with everything,” D. Guerrero, mother of Britnee said.
“I’m glad it’s getting done. she had a lot of offers, and it was a lot of narrowing down,” her mother said. “I’m glad she’s continuing her education, but also that she won’t be too far away.”
“We are proud of her,” Brine’s father, Mondo Guerrero, said.
“I think it’s so important for kids in a community like Mabton to see someone like Britnee. She’s not just an athlete, she’s also an academic, and she’ll go far,” Tonya Ibarra said.
