ZILLAH The Leopards and Granger Spartans boys wrestling teams competed in a double dual at Zillah High School last night.
The Leopards opened with a narrow 33-27 win against Warden. Connell eked out a 39-35 victory against the hosts.
Granger’s results were not provided as of press time.
The Leopards’ Neo Crossley (152) was the first to take to the mats and won a 5-0 decision against Warden’s Ivan Dominquez. He later won a 13-3 major decision against Connell’s Jaxson Tattle.
Quinton Rogers Burgett won a 13-10 decision against Mikey Madrigalez of the Warriors and a 5-1 decision against Kyle Naef of the Eagles in the 160-pound weight class.
In the 170-pound bouts, Elijah Gonzalez of Warden won a 3-2 decision against Tristan DeOchoa. DeOchoa lost by pin in 3:15 to Brandon Chavez of Connell.
Isaac Vargas (180) of the Leopards won the Warden match by forfeit and pinned Jesus Ramos of the Eagles in 2:03.
Fermin Martinez won the 195-pound bout against the Warriors via forfeit and lost by pin in 3:22 to Dylan Radke of the Eagles.
Radke wrestled again the 220-pound class, defeating Wyatt Tynan of the Leopards by pin in 4:44.
Tynan was also pinned in 3:25 by Warden’s Martin Dominiquize.
In the 285-pound bout, Alejandre Cristobal of the Leopards suffered a fall in 1:28 to his unnamed Warden opponent. He didn’t wrestle against Connell, giving the Eagles a win by forfeit.
Jesus Alejandre (106) of the Leopards lost both his bouts. He lost an 11-7 decision to Warden’s Comneach West and was pinned in 3:17 by Jonathan Magana of the Eagles.
In the 113-pound weight class Nathaniel Mendoza won both his matches. He pinned Roly Martinez of the Warriors in 1:56 and won a 9-1 major decision against Rafael Gomez of the Eagles.
Dawson Husted (120) of the Leopards defeated Oswado Dominquiz of the Warriors, 6-1, and was awarded a forfeit by the Eagles.
The Leopards’ 126-pound Gustavo Cisneros won a 6-5 decision against Edgar Hernandez of Warden and lost by pin in 5:27 to Maeson Holst of Connell.
Warden’s Anthony Martinez (132) pinned David Soto of Zillah in 2:58, and Tate Hall defeated Soto, 9-4.
Warden’s Rodrigo Ozuna (138) defeated Wade Koerner, 9-4, and Koerner pinned Connell’s Julian Garcia in 1:58.
Zillah’s Eric De La Rosa (145) won a 4-2 decision against Warden’s Holden Hawthorn, and was awarded a forfeit by Connell.
