PROSSER Benton County Sheriff’s deputies found the body of a dead man Wednesday afternoon after being alerted by a passerby traveling on Interstate 82.
According to the Sheriff’s office, deputies responded to a call of a dead human body at 2:12 p.m.
The sheriff’s office said the body was found east of Prosser, near I-82, between Milepost 83 and 84.
The body was found on the south side of I-82 at a barbed-wire fence by a motorist on the highway.
The sheriff’s office described the body as that of an older white male, possibly 55 to 70 years of age, balding with a long beard.
The subject was wearing new looking shoes, jeans, a dark green colored light jacket and a black colored beanie type cap, the Sheriff’s office said. There was no identification with the body.
The sheriff’s office said it appeared the body had been at the location for several days, and there were no obvious signs of injury.
An autopsy is scheduled Friday to help determine a possible cause of death, the sheriff’s office said.
