Five fugitives nabbed in roundup

Violent Offenders Task Force conducts raid in Valley

— Five wanted persons were rounded up Friday when the Pacific Northwest Violent Offender Task force conducted a raid here and in Wapato.

The task force includes Department of Corrections officers and deputies of the Yakima County Sheriff’s office.

The fugitives were taken into custody on warrants. One suspect was also found at the time of arrest with a controlled substance and will have additional charges.

A total of 8 outstanding warrants were cleared during the apprehension of these fugitives, task force spokesman Aaron Wuitschick said. The warrants ranged from escape community custody to third-degree assault and drive-by shooting.

“Four of the five arrested are documented gang members,” Wuitschick said.

While attempting to locate these suspects, deputies located a license plate to a current stolen vehicle. Investigations will continue to attempt to locate the vehicle.

At a location in the Toppenish area, a separate stolen vehicle was located. This vehicle had been stolen since October 2016.

It was taken in an armed robbery/car-jacking in the City of Yakima. The vehicle was secured into evidence, and investigations will follow.

Persons with information on any wanted subjects are encouraged to call local law enforcement agencies or Crime Stoppers at 800-248-9980 or visit www.crimestoppersyakco.org.
