SUNNYSIDE A local woman turned her brother into police for being an alien and convicted felon in possession of a firearm on Valentine’s Day.
Marco Betancourt, 27, was subsequently arrested by police in the area of 1224 Hilzer Alley near his sister’s house, court records show. He was in possession of a loaded Ruger 10/22 rifle and ammunition.
Court records show Betancourt’s sister, M. Betancourt, contacted police because she believed her brother had an AK-47 military-grade firearm, records show. She also told police that he had just been bailed out of jail on an immigration hold.
After his arrest, Betancourt told police he was a convicted felon and had purchased the rifle from a private seller, records show.
Betancourt is charged with second-degree unlawful possession of a firearm, records show.
