Pounds of pot lead to arrest

— A traffic stop led to the discovery of 24.53 pounds of marijuana and 2.31 of black tar heroin in the trunk of Grandview man’s vehicle.

Raul Farias Partida, 43, was arrested Saturday after police searching his Chevrolet Malibu located the contraband in the trunk, court records show.

A Yakima County Sheriff’s Office deputy stopped Partida on Lateral A for having a taillight out, records show.

During the stop, the deputy received permission to search the car, records show. The driver opened the trunk and then shut it, saying it was stuck.

A deputy then used the release button inside the car and found the contraband, records show.

Partida is charged with possession of a controlled substance-marijuana, records show. The charge may be elevated to include intent to deliver.

Additional charges of possession of a controlled substance-heroin with intent to deliver and possession of drug paraphernalia may be pending, records show.
