Biologist shares story

— Heritage University Native fish and wildlife biologist Melissa Castiano will be the first speaker in a new leadership series being offered on campus.

She will present her story “Navigating Challenges and Finding My Path Forward” from noon to 1 p.m. Thursday in Smith Family Hall on campus, 3240 Fort Road.

Castiano is one of the featured speakers in the university’s Indigenous Leadership Speaker Series.

She will share her journey to become a wildlife biologist and her career in natural resources and conservation.

She is Dine’ (Navajo) and has a degree in wildlife science from New Mexico State University. Her experience includes working as a wildlife biologist and as an indigenous youth program director.
