— The Popeye’s and Grocery Outlet construction and remodeling are well along already under way for their arrivals this year or early next year.

The Popeye’s franchise at 2490 Yakima Valley Highway, next to Carl’s Jr. restaurant, is anticipated to open this fall, Hogback Development Project Manager Michelle Blanchard said in May.

She said Popeye’s is expected to provide 65 jobs at the completion of the $2 million project.

Yakima County lists the property as sold April 18 at a cost of $371,480.

“Popeye’s has been wanting to expand into the lower valley, and we were able to find them an excellent location,” Blanchard said.

Yesterday, employees of Stephens and Sons Construction of Yakima were starting on the building foundation.

Grocery Outlet is also moving right along. Yesterday, Puterbaugh Construction was cleaning up the giant Floor in the building that was K-Mart.
