Grandview man appears in court

— A local man was in court Monday to face drug-related and other charges.

Alvaro Cerrillo Mendez Jr., 36, appeared before Yakima County Superior Court Judge Michael G. McCarthy yesterday after being arrested for possession of a controlled substance-methamphetamine.

He was arrested at 12:12 p.m. Nov. 16 on several outstanding warrants, court records show. Following his arrest, police located a plastic bag containing 1.1 grams of methamphetamine and glass pipe with residue.

Yakima County Jail records show he was being held on $9,250 bail for possession of a controlled substance, driving while under the influence and driving without an ignition interlock, as well as being detained for another law enforcement agency.
