Plan a candlelight walk

— A magical experience awaits those visiting the Yakima Area Arboretum.

Take a walk through the its wintry landscape, guided by the light of a 1000-candles at the Luminaria 2017 on the grounds, 1401 Arboretum Drive, from 6-10 p.m. Dec. 8 and 9.

Enjoy listening to the music of the Arboretum’s Carillon Bells while walking through the twinkling lights of the Japanese Garden winter landscape.

Then wander into the Jewett Interpretive Center where nature lovers can enjoy steaming cups coffee, hot apple cider, tasty treats from the kitchen of, live music performed by various local artists, fun children’s crafts.

The event is free; however, donations are gladly accepted.

For those wishing to park and ride to the gardens, the Yakima Transit is providing a free shuttle from the Kmart parking lot across the street from the arboretum.

Those persons needing special parking needs must show their handicapped pass to park on the grounds.
