Harriers head to state meet

— Cross country competitors from all classifications across the state are competing in the 2017 State Cross Country Championships at Sun Willows Golf Course on Saturday.

Lower Yakima Valley harriers will be among them after competing last week in each of their District meets.

From Sunnyside, Michael Condie and Dallas Borrego are qualified for the 4A races. 2A competitors include Prosser’s Max Wahl and Nati Ver Mulm, as well as Grandview’s Adrian Benitez. Granger’s Alfonso Price, and Zillah’s Ian Redfield, Andrew Olson, Nate Mendoza, Wade Koerner, Sydney John, Justin Irion, Levi Cumpston, Cole Belton, Caitlyn Belton, Madison Elizondo, Kaia John, Kalen Johnson, Faith Mason, Haley Mason, Jessica McDonald, Alexis Robillard and Olyvia Smith are competing in the 1A races. Bickleton has two harriers — Michael Gannon and Christian Arriaga — competing in the 1B/2B races.

The first race is 1B/2B girls at 10 a.m. The final, 4A boys, is at 2:30 p.m.
