Spartans head to sub-district

— After Tuesday’s match against Naches, the high school tennis teams are preparing for Tuesday’s sub-district tournament at Selah High School.

The Spartans boys tennis team defeated the Rangers, 5-0. The girls lost, 2-3.

First singles player Nathan Acosta won, 6-1, 0-6, 6-4; No. 2 singles player C.J. Middleton won by forfeit; No. 1 doubles teammates Jake and Trennan Slade won in two sets, 6-0, 6-1; Kamiakin Puyette and Malachi Cumpston won in No. 2 doubles, 6-1, 6-0; and No. 3 teammates Robert Berger and Alvaro Campos won via forfeit.

Anabel Castillo lost by 1-6, 2-6 scores in No. 1 girls singles action; Naya Roettger lost 2-6, 0-6 in second singles; Sophie Blodgett and Jasmin Aldaco won, 5-7, 6-4, 6-2 in No. 1 doubles; Mayha Rodriguez and Alexis Arciga lost the No. 2 doubles match, 0-6, 2-6; and No. 3 teammates Bella Payne and Kaitlyn Roettger won, 9-7.
