Most hops grown here

— The U.S. Department of Agriculture is estimating Washington state will account for 72 percent of the hops available this year.

Approximately 38,921 acres of hops are in production, Agriculture figures show. Much of that acreage is near Moxee and in Lower Yakima Valley. Oregon has an estimated 8,045 acres of hops and Idaho has 7,169 acres.

This year’s hops acreage and harvest is expected to be 6 percent more than last year, officials said.
