Mabton man charged with child rape, burglary

His girlfriend is accused of beating victim

— A local man is on his way to Yakima County Jail on allegations he raped a child.

Edgar Cisneros, 21, is charged with third-degree rape of a child and burglary, Police Chief Phin Haglin said.

The charges stem from an incident last month when Cisneros reportedly entered the victim’s Washington Street residence without permission and raped her, records show.

The victim is younger than 16, Haglin said.

And on Friday, Cisneros’ girlfriend was charged with fourth-degree assault and intimidating a witness, Haglin said.

The 18 year old “… beat up the victim of the sexual assault,” he said yesterday. Haglin did not provide the girlfriend’s name.

A “third party” told officers about the alleged rape on Thursday, Haglin said. Cisneros was charged and taken to Sunnyside Jail. He is scheduled to be at Yakima County Jail by today.

And police believe that Cisneros may have been targeting others.

“We have information that he may be Snapchatting other young women, attaching pictures of inappropriate body parts,” Haglin said. “The investigation continues, that’s why we’re asking the public to help us out.”

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call Officer Marilyn Arroyo at 509-894-2955.
