Junior, Rascal rodeos slated

Events set for Friday and Saturday

— Get ready for Rascal Rodeo and the Toppenish Junior Rodeo.

Toppenish will kick up its heels this Friday and Saturday for the 49th annual event at the rodeo grounds, 600 S. Division St. The rodeos will feature youth from ages 6-18, officials said.

The Junior Rodeo kicks off at 6:30 p.m. tomorrow with a grand entry. A second grand entry is planned for 4:30 p.m. Saturday.

Boys will compete in saddle bronc, bareback, roping, steer wrestling and bull riding. For the girls, look for goat tying, barrel racing, pole bending, and ribbon roping.

Children with disabilities, who are sometimes unable to go it alone, can enter the Rascal Rodeo at 10 a.m. Saturday.

Rascal Rodeo and assisting community volunteers will participate in simulated rodeo events. Simulated contests include roping, bull and bronc riding, barrel racing and more.

The Junior Rodeo is divided into age divisions, with competitors younger than 6 in Beginner, ages 7-10 in Pee-Wee, 11-14 in Junior and 15-18 in Senior.
