Cops make heroin bust

Informant made seven buys in a five-month span

— A local man will be arraigned April 14 on accusations he sold heroin multiple times to an informant with Yakima County’s drug task force.

Adalberto B. Brito, 23, is charged with possessing a controlled substance (heroin) with intent to distribute, unlawful use of a building for drugs, possessing a controlled substance (cocaine)and first-degree unlawful possession of a firearm, records show.

He appeared Friday in Yakima County Superior Court, records show. Brito’s bail was set at $75,000.

He was arrested after detectives with the county’s drug task force executed a search warrant Thursday at 505 Crescent Drive, records show.

Detectives found an assault rifle and a pistol in his bedroom, a probable cause document shows. Elswhere in the home, they found more ammunition, firearms and a substance suspected to be cocaine.

Each of the seven purchases field tested positive for heroin, records show. The informant was under constant surveillance.

The purchases date back to last October, records show.

Brito is a documented BGL gang member has prior felony convictions, Detective M. Fairchild said

His convictions include second-degree unlawful possession of a firearm, residential burglary and possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver.
