SUNNYSIDE A local credit union is contributing $5,000 for Nuestra Casa’s educational programs.
Last week, Lower Valley Credit Union Branch Development Officer Erika Aranda presented the donation to Nuestra Casa’s Executive Director, Esperanza Lemos.
Nuestra Casa is a local non-profit agency that Aranda said is making a difference.
“Through education, empowerment and mutual support, Nuestra Casa enables immigrant women to create positive changes in themselves, their families, and their communities,” Aranda said.
The non-profit offers Spanish literacy tutoring, and citizenship preparation classes.
“Nuestra Casa’s ‘walk-in’ support services based on educating members of the community and coaching them on how to effectively communicate and improve their daily lives is very similar to LVCU’s vision of, ‘planting seeds of opportunity for a better tomorrow’,” Aranda said.
Nuestra Casa plans to use the funds for supplies for classes and other necessities.
