Spartans suffer 0-3 loss

— One Lower Yakima Valley soccer team competed last night.

Granger lost, 0-3, to Highland.

Highland scored in the 13th, 58th and 65th minutes of the match.

The Scotties’ keeper recorded four saves, while Granger’s Jasmin Rodriguez denied nine scoring opportunities.

“It was a disappointing outcome tonight,” Spartans coach Stephanie King said following the match.

She did not have a roster for the Scotties.

“We really wanted this win and beat a team we never have in school history for girls soccer,” she said.

“They had a clear strategy going against us, and it was effective,” King said.

The Spartans need to compensate and adjust when other teams implement their own strategies, she said.

Granger (3-7) travels to Mabton on Saturday.
