GRANDVIEW A teacher accused of illegal sexual contact with students will collect pay through the end of the school year.
Zachary Joseph Sybouts, 26, was arrested three weeks ago and charged with sexual exploitation of a minor, communicating with a minor for immoral purposes and possession of depictions of a minor engaged in sexually explicit conduct.
Sybouts was put on administrative leave after the district learned of the allegations on March 30, Superintendent Kevin Chase said.
Chase confirmed yesterday Sybouts will be paid through June 10, which would have been his last scheduled day of work for the school year.
“Mr. Sybouts is on paid administrative leave and his resignation is effective the end of the school year,” Chase said. “He is entitled to full pay per his current employment contract with the district.”
Sybouts is a high school physical education teacher with a base annual salary of $35,541, including his absence during the last nearly two-and-a-half months of classes.
Frankie Medina is teaching Sybouts’ physical education classes.
Three known victims are students at the high school, Police Chief Kal Fuller said. They include two 16-year-olds and a girl who turned 18 last month.
Sybouts was previously warned about contacting students via his cell phone, but continued to do so, records show.
