Prosser crash injures seven

— Seven people are recovering from injuries suffered in a crash Friday night near milepost 82 on Interstate 82.

Bruce Walker, 33, of Richland, was driving eastbound in a 2009 Hyundai Sonata when he rear-ended a 1986 Ford Bronco SUV that was disabled and blocking a lane, the State Patrol said.

The SUV’s driver, Barbara Balcita, 28, of Kennewick, had the vehicle’s hazard lights on at the time of the crash, troopers said. Walker, Balcita and her five passengers were all injured, the State Patrol said.

Balcita’s passengers, all from Kennewick, included Alfredo Martinez, 26, and four children; Ivar Lopez, 11, Katalyna Martinez, 3, Katalayah Martinez, 3 and Xadrien Balcita, 6.

The four children were not wearing seatbelts, troopers said.

Walker is charged with second-degree negligent driving and Balcita is charged with improper restraint.
