Two injured in U.S. 97 crash

— A Kent couple is recovering from injuries sustained in a crash just after 4 p.m. yesterday.

Richard L. Jensen, 77, was northbound on U.S. Highway 97 approaching Milepost 37 when he lost control of his vehicle.

He was driving a 1997 Ford pickup, the Washington State Patrol said. He was towing an Airstream trailer.

The truck and trailer left the roadway and flipped, troopers said.

Both Jensen and his passenger, 68-year-old Barbara L. Jensen, were injured, troopers said.

Mr. Jensen was transported to Toppenish Community Hospital and Mrs. Jensen to Yakima Regional Hospital, troopers said.

The vehicle was totaled in the crash, troopers said. It was towed from the scene.

Both were wearing seat belts. Neither drugs nor alcohol were believed to be factors in the crash.

The cause of the crash is under investigation. Charges have not yet been filed, troopers said.
