Driver injured in Zillah crash

— A Kennewick woman was injured yesterday in a crash with a dump truck.

Janice A. Elliott, 36, was driving a 2006 Dodge Stratus westbound on Interstate 82 when at milepost 50 she struck a dump truck driven by David S. Taylor, 48, of Yakima, the Washington State Patrol said.

The state Department of Transportation had closed one lane of the interstate due to road maintenance, troopers said. Elliott struck the rear end of the dump truck after she had changed lanes to pass another vehicle.

Elliott was injured and taken to Toppenish Community Hospital, troopers said. Taylor was not injured.

Both drivers were wearing seat belts, the State Patrol said. Alcohol and drugs were not factors in the crash. Elliott was charged with following too close, troopers said.
