Court sets McCleary hearing

— State lawmakers will have a chance at a court hearing to describe their efforts towards education funding.

The Washington Supreme Court has issued a 4-page order calling legislators to appear Sept. 7 and explain their progress in meeting the requirements of the court’s McCleary ruling.

The 2012 verdict ruled lawmakers did not meet the state’s constitutional obligation to provide basic education to all students.
