ZILLAH Inattention is believed to be the cause of a crash yesterday that injured five people, the State Patrol said.
Jamieon D. McShane, 23, was driving a 1999 Dodge Durango westbound on Interstate 82. At milepost 52 the vehicle left the roadway to the right, the State Patrol said. McShane lost control of the Durango, which flipped and came to rest on its wheels on the shoulder of the westbound ramp.
McShane and four passengers, all from Edmonds, were injured in the crash and transported to Toppenish Community Hospital. The passengers included Kristen Forbes, 24, and three children, ranging in age from one to seven.
All five were wearing seatbelts, the State Patrol said. Drugs or alcohol were not factors in the crash.
McShane was charged with negligent driving, troopers said.
