SUNNYSIDE Local Seahawk fans will be hosting gatherings Sunday morning as they watch their favorite team in the playoff game against the Carolina Panthers.
A gathering for friends and family is planned at the home of Brad and Wendy Denson, who are known for having painted their home in the Seahawk color scheme.
Mr. Denson said there will be several people at their home enjoying the game, as well as food and camaraderie.
“If the Seahawks make the Super Bowl, we plan to take a 12th man photo again,” he said. Last year the family hosted a party and photo shoot with more than 80 people to cheer on the Seahawks.
As for the game this week, Denson said, “I hope Marshawn Lynch returns… we really need some help against the Panthers.”
Also enjoying the game between calls will be local firefighters.
Firefighter Dennis Blumer said those working that morning will be munching on their favorite football foods when they aren’t assisting residents in need of services.
However, many businesses won’t be hosting anything special since game time is 10:05 a.m.
Owner of RC’s Casino and Valley Lanes Rob Rice said the game starts too early. Neither of his businesses are open at 10 a.m. and people don’t want to frequent them in the mornings.
“We’ve tried to do something before, but no one was interested… there weren’t any customers,” he said.
Blue Moon co-owner Mike Pacheos said the local tavern and grill usually has special drink prices on game day, but nothing extraordinary is planned for this particular game.
“We usually do something for Super Bowl,” he said.
His brother, Doug said, “Happy hour prices will remain throughout the day, if Seattle wins.”
