Groups to review regional homeless needs

Grandview, Yakima meetings set

— Two Yakima County groups seeking to meet the needs of the region’s homeless population are gearing up for the fall.

The Lower Valley Homeless Coalition meets 9:30-11 a.m. Friday in the Vineyard Cafe, 150 Division St.

That session will follow up on the area’s issues regarding homelessness.

In recent weeks, for example, some Sunnyside residents have reported seeing homeless people in Central Park or in the Waneta Road area.

The other meeting is a strategic retreat for the Homeless Network of Yakima County.

It is from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 8 in the Yakima Holiday Inn, 802 E. Yakima Ave.

Discussion points will include reviewing the network’s priorities, purpose and core values.

The group will also elect new officers during the final 30 minutes of the retreat.
