Fire continues to burn on reservation

INCHELIUM– A nearly 2,000-acre wildfire burning on the Colville Indian Reservation in Ferry County was 65 percent contained as of Monday evening, Aug. 8.

Fire officials said the Kewa wildfire – burning about 15 miles south of town - was estimated to be 1,912-acres Monday, up from 1,859-acres on Friday.

Cooler, wetter weather is assisting in increasing mop up efforts from the fire line toward the interior, fire officials said.
