Insurance deadlines set

— Growers will need to apply for crop insurance coverage by the end of next month.

Officials with the U.S. Department of Agriculture note that producers must apply for the 2017 crop year before sales closing dates that range from Aug. 31 to Sept. 30.

Current policyholders who wish to make changes to their existing coverage also have until the sales closing dates to do so.

Crop insurance provides protection against crop production losses due to natural perils such as drought, hail, and excessive moisture.
