The staff and administration at Sunnyside Prestige Care & Rehabilitation facility are celebrating the news that the long-term care facility has earned a perfect grade for services to its patients.
Recently, a state team of nurses and auditors spent six days at the Sunnyside facility, reviewing all departments, from dietary to pharmacy, said Mary Arthur, facility administrator.
“Our team is proud to receive this positive survey, which shows our commitment to providing high quality care at Prestige of Sunnyside,” Arthur said.
Prestige Care and Rehabilitation is licensed for 80 patients and employs 120 staff members to care for the facility’s elderly residents and those who are undergoing rehabilitation, Arthur said.
Typically, the daily census is about 75 patients, she added.
“We are all committed to providing the safest and highest quality care in a comfortable setting for our patients and their families,” Arthur added.
Noting that the long term care facility staff works as a team, Arthur gave credit to the facility’s director of nursing, Dana Hilbert, for working to keep proper patient care systems in place at Prestige.
“She is a leader and encourages our staff to always do their best,” Arthur said.
Arthur said Hilbert joined the Prestige Care and Rehabilitation staff in Sunnyside a year ago. Prior to that Hilbert worked at the Grandview Health Center, before it closed last year. While at Grandview Health Care, Dilbert and her co-workers earned a perfect survey, Arthur said.
Arthur said receiving a clean score from the state inspection team is not the result of doing the right things for patients occasionally.
“It’s a matter of having the right systems in place all year around and having staff developing and using the correct habits every day,” she said.
“We have to be accurate all the time,” she added.
“Achieving assessments such as these take hard work from every member of the staff. I am proud of each one of them,” Arthur said.
