Granger clinic set to reopen

The former Granger Medical Clinic on Main Street Granger will soon reopen under the management of Yakima Neighborhood Health Services. Officials say the clinic should be open for business later this month.

— The long shuttered Granger Medical Clinic will be re-opening under new management very soon.

The clinic, located at 111 Main St., has been closed for a number of years, but thanks to new funding from the Neighborhood Health Services of Yakima, it should be open later this month.

Anita Monoian, the health service agency’s executive director, recently told Granger Chamber of Commerce members the clinic will be open five days a week.

In addition, a mobile health clinic van will also be available in the small Lower Valley town.

The mobile unit will travel to various housing projects in the Granger area, Monoian said.

Meanwhile, the clinic is undergoing a complete renovation to make it ready for its opening, she said.

“We have already hired two health providers, including a nurse practitioner and a physician to work out of the clinic,” Monoian said.

“Staffing of the clinic will begin as soon as the construction is done,” she said, adding the clinic will have four examining rooms and a consulting room.

Monoian said Neighborhood Health Services has been looking at the Granger site for three years. “Opening a clinic in Granger is now do-able,” she said.

“We started working on the clinic remodel in October and were given 120 days to get it up and running,” she said.
