Police in Sunnyside have since last Friday been alerted to six thefts.
On Friday, alert employees at Fashion City told police they had video footage of two juvenile males suspected of stealing alcohol from Rite Aid.
Saturday, police were called after a resident in the 90 block of Maple Way discovered her son’s bicycle had been stolen.
Also on Saturday, a woman visiting from Texas reported the vehicle she was using had been stolen from the 400 block of West South Hill Road. The vehicle was later recovered in Granger and impounded.
Yesterday (Sunday) two individuals reported their cell phones stolen.
The first caller was a Yakima resident who traced her cell phone to Sunnyside. Police were able to recover it.
Another woman alerted police after finding her cell phone stolen from a stroller while she was attending Sunnyside’s Cinco de Mayo festivities downtown.
Another individual in the 500 block of South Seventh Street yesterday called police to report his vehicle stolen. Police investigating the report found the vehicle was impounded after having been involved in a hit and run traffic mishap.
Police in Sunnyside have also handled eight automatic alarms, a controlled substance problem, four domestic violence calls, a DUI, eight juvenile problems, three missing person reports, a runaway juvenile report, seven suspicious activity calls, four traffic problems, a vandalism report, four court order violations and six traffic mishaps.
Officers, too, assisted the Sunnyside Fire Department with a grass fire and provided five other agency assists.
