Basic beef education at ag-expo

YAKIMA – A basic beef production educational program will be held at the Yakima Ag-Expo on Thursday, Jan. 8, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The WSU Extension program “Beef 100” will bring in educators from across the state as well as the animal science department in Pullman.

The program is designed for beginning producers and will be delivered in the Yakima Valley SunDome meeting rooms.

Class size for Beef 100 is limited. The cost is $50 per person or $90 for a couple before Tuesday, Jan. 6. After that day, registration will cost $60 per person and $100 per couple. Lunch will be provided.

Subjects will include life cycle nutrition, genetics, marketing and pasture management.

Beginning producers, high school students and small farm owners interested in beef production can register by calling Yakima County WSU Extension at 509-574-1600.
