Troopers urging crash safety

A Good Samaritan is recovering from injuries sustained while exiting his SUV last Friday to check on the driver of an overturned tractor-trailer along eastbound I-90 at Milepost 81.

Washington State Patrol officials said the incident is the second along a state highway in three days.

Both pedestrians were hit while checking on the occupants of overturned vehicles.

On Dec. 2, a pedestrian was killed at a collision on Interstate 90 at Milepost 116.

When witnessing a collision, troopers advise calling 911, pulling as far off the roadway as possible and turning on hazard lights. If motorists are concerned and think their vehicle might get struck from behind, troopers advise getting out of the vehicle and moving away from the road.
