High school art competition deadline May 1

Students in Central Washington still have time to submit artwork for the 2015 Congressional High School Art Competition.

All artwork must be submitted by Friday, May 1, to the Yakima or Tri-Cities district offices of U.S. Rep. Dan Newhouse. Participants should call to schedule a time for artwork to be dropped off.

The winning entry will be displayed in the U.S. Capitol, and this year’s winner will visit Washington, D.C. to attend a reception hosted by the Congressional Institute.

Students are encouraged to submit various styles and types of art, ranging from paintings and drawings to photography and mixed media pieces. The artwork must be original in design, no more than 15 lbs., no larger than 28” X 28” X 4,” and be prepared for hanging.

Two runners-up will have their artwork on display in the 4th Congressional District offices at Yakima and Richland. Each student may submit one piece of artwork.
