MABTON – Students in Mabton have planned a full week of homecoming activities for Monday, Oct. 13, through Saturday, Oct. 18.
That’s according to student representative Jose Amezcua, who outlined the week’s events for the Mabton School Board this past Monday.
Students will be arriving at school in military dress on Oct. 13.
That night at 6:30 p.m. the community can attend the school’s annual powder puff football game at Keith Morris Field.
Oct. 14 will be “Touchdown Tuesday.” Students are encouraged to dress in football fan gear.
The girls soccer team will host Highland at 6 p.m. that night, and the volleyball team will be hosting Kittitas at 5:30 p.m.
Those attending the Oct. 14 games are encouraged to wear pink, Amezcua told the Mabton School Board.
On Wednesday, Oct. 15, students taking part in homecoming week activities will wear pink in support of breast cancer awareness month.
The annual Mabton Homecoming Parade will commence at 6 p.m. that evening. Entries will travel Washington Street from Artz-Fox Elementary School to the corner of North Main and B streets.
A chili feed will take place at the high school beginning at 7 p.m. after the parade, and the macho man volleyball competition is set to be staged at 7:30 p.m.
Oct. 16 will be “Decked Out Thursday” on campus. Students from each class will be dressed in attire related to a designated decade.
“Viking Spirit Day” will be Friday, Oct. 17. Students are encouraged to don purple and gold.
The homecoming assembly, featuring a tug ‘o war contest, will also be held on Friday. Also, the winner of spirit week, as well as the names of the homecoming king and queen will be announced.
That night’s homecoming football game will feature the Vikings against Soap Lake.
Students will on Saturday, Oct. 18, have the opportunity to enjoy the homecoming dance. The theme this year will be “The Roaring 20s/Great Gatsby.”
