Woodcutting, mushroom permits on sale

All Okanogan-Wenatchee Forest offices are now selling woodcutting and mushroom hunting permits.

The minimum firewood permit is $20 for four cords of wood. For more than four cords, patrons will be charged an additional $5 per cord.

When woodcutting a permit is required. To purchase permits, a driver’s license or other form of picture ID will be necessary.

The Forest Service has woodcutting maps, which are also a necessity.

Mushroom gathering permits can be purchased at the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest headquarters office, as well as at the Cle Elum and Wenatchee River Ranger District offices.

Permits are available at the cost of $20 for four days, $50 for 30 days or $100 for a season permit. The season ends on July 31.

A mushroom harvesting area map and informational brochures are available at the forest service offices or online at www.fs.usda.gov/okawen.
