Sunnyside firefighters kept busy

The Sunnyside Fire Department has responded to five calls for service since yesterday (Thursday).

Firefighters investigated an unknown type of fire in the 600 block of South 12th Street at approximately 7 p.m. last night. They also investigated an automatic alarm in the 1000 block of Tacoma Avenue yesterday at approximately 7:30 p.m.

The Sunnyside Fire Department assisted the Sunnyside Police Department with a call in the 700 block of North Avenue just before midnight. Yakima County Fire District #5 requested assistance with a vehicle fire at Murray and South Emerald roads just after 10 p.m. last night.

Also yesterday, firefighters responded to a call in the 500 block of West South Hill Road, but the call was a false alarm.

The fire department’s ambulance service has since yesterday fielded six aid calls. Three of those patients were transported to Sunnyside Community Hospital. One other patient was provided a transport from the hospital to another health care facility.
