New exhibit opens March 7 at Yakima’s Larson Gallery

YAKIMA – The Larson Gallery will open “Functional Art: the Wine Country Home” on Friday, March 7.

The new exhibit is a nationally juried show with 43 pieces of art selected by Curtis Steiner. It features ceramics, furniture, clothing, wood, tableware, rugs and jewelry.

The exhibit was developed to showcase the ways art can be reflected in everyday items.

The exhibit will be displayed through April 19, although the gallery will be closed March 24-29 for spring break.

All entries were chosen from among online submissions, the Larson Gallery was able to draw from amongst works by many different artists.

Steiner, owner of Souvenir in Seattle, took the task of serving as juror seriously, narrowing the selections from 115 to 43. The accepted artists for the exhibit are from various states.

A reception will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. on March 7. The gallery is open Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Saturdays from 1 to 5 p.m.

The Larson Gallery is located at 16th Avenue and Nob Hill Boulevard in Yakima on the Yakima Valley Community College campus.
