SHS sends two to Wenatchee


WENATCHEE – Two members of Sunnyside’s small contingent of swimmers made their season debut at a four-team meet in Wenatchee yesterday.

Representing the Grizzlies were Ivan Partida Mancilla and Fernando Farias.

Coach Carl Scott elected to have both Sunnyside athletes compete in Tuesday’s JV competitions.

Farias was entered in the diving contest. He tallied a score of 85.75. The only other JV diver to compete was Eisenhower’s Andrew Westphal, whose total score added up to 15.30.

The top diving score on the day belonged to Wenatchee’s Marco Thody, who tallied a 135.65 in the varsity competition.

Mancilla swam in two JV races. The Sunnyside swimmer clocked a time of 33.38 seconds in the 50-yard freestyle, and 1:21.53 in the 100-yard freestyle.

The top JV times in those two events were 28.88 and 55.99 seconds, respectively.
