County commissioners adopt trails plan

YAKIMA – Following several public hearings and information gathering for the purpose of developing the Yakima County Trails Plan, Yakima County Commissioners Kevin Bouchey, Rand Elliott and Mike Leita formally adopted the documents last week.

The Yakima County Trails Plan will be incorporated into the county’s Capital Improvement Plan and will be forwarded to the Washington State Recreation and Conservation Office for future grant funding consideration.

The plan includes potential trails and parks projects within Yakima County.

Included among those projects is an extension of the Lower Valley Pathway from Sunnyside to Granger.

The commissioners adopted the plan unanimously.
