Lady Grizzlies drop pool play matches

WENATCHEE – Coming off its only win of the season, against Moses Lake last Thursday, the Sunnyside volleyball team this past Saturday struggled at the Wenatchee Invitational.

Sunnyside was entered into pool play against Ballard, Edmonds and La Conner.

“We competed well against these teams, but were not able to pull out a win in pool play,” said Lady Grizzly Coach Jordyne Jaquish.

Sunnyside, in bracket play, competed against Wenatchee and lost in one set, which was played to 25 points.

Jaquish said the Lady Grizzlies were able to pull off a win against Cashmere. That set, also in bracket play, went to 25 points, as well.

“We used this tournament as an opportunity to practice building off our positives from (last) Thursday,” said Jaquish, stating the team worked on an aggressive attack.

She said some improvements on defense at the net were also made during the invitational. “We had several blocks in our pool play sets,” said Jaquish.

Tomorrow (Tuesday) the Lady Grizzlies will compete at Davis against the Pirates.
