Fundraisers set for Prosser clinic

PROSSER - Tea, homemade scarves and hair accessories are just some of the items vendors will put on display Friday, March 15, during the PMH Foundation Auxiliary's first-ever Spring Showcase.

It's the first of two fundraisers this spring geared toward helping out PMH Medical Center of Prosser.

The Spring Showcase will take place in a designated area of the clinic from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Julie Urrutia is the community outreach coordinator for PMH, and she says the Auxiliary raises funds each year to help meet needs such as a rocking chair for the center's pediatric emergency room.

The Auxiliary also raises funds for scholarships it awards each year that are open to Lower Valley high school students seeking careers in the health care field.

Urrutia says each of the vendors at the showcase will be asked to designate a portion of their proceeds to the Auxiliary for its ongoing efforts on behalf of the medical center.

The second fundraiser this spring for PMH Medical Center is the Sage Rat Run, a run/walk that supports several charities, including the PMH Foundation.

The Sage Rat Run, billed as a "fun run for charity," will be held May 17-19. It follows the Pioneer Pathway from Sunnyside to Grandview to Prosser. Participants can choose from a kid's run, a 5k, 12k, 15k, 13.1 mile or a 50k run.

Urrutia says the foundation supports PMH in a myriad of ways, ranging from the purchase of needed medical equipment to installing a healing gardens waterfall to creating a courtyard mural of old-time Prosser.

Information about the Spring Showcase is available by calling 509-788-6021. Information and registration for the Sage Rat Run is posted at
