Lady Knights outmatch Lady Vikings

MABTON - The Sunnyside Christian Lady Knight volleyball team defeated the Mabton Lady Vikings in three sets on the Mabton home court last night (Thursday).

Sunnyside Christian took control in the first set and held on to win 25-12.

In set two, Mabton struggled back to go point-for-point against the Lady Knights. The Sunnyside Christian girls eventually prevailed 25-20.

In the third set, Lady Knight Kate Newhouse served for 13 points in a row to give her team a solid lead. Mabton was never able to catch up, and the Lady Knights took the set 25-7.

"I was happy with how my team stayed together as a unit tonight," said Lady Knights Coach Stephanie Dalrymple. "(We were) able to play aggressive volleyball."

The win propelled Sunnyside Christian to an overall 2-0 record while Mabton fell to 0-1.

Both Mabton and Sunnyside Christian next play in the Sundome Volleyball Tournament today, Sept. 7.
