Dorothy M. Looney, 100, of Sunnyside passed away on Thursday, Feb. 17, 2011, at Sunnyside Community Hospital.

Dorothy was born Dec. 25, 1910 in Jackson, Miss., the daughter of Marcus Morgan and Bessie (Tolles) Chastine.

Dorothy attended and received her education from Mississippi State College for women.

On Feb. 14, 1930 she married Floyd Looney at Galloway Memorial Methodist Church in Jackson.

Dorothy was the secretary and retired as an administrative secretary to the University of Washington.

She enjoyed reading her Bible, traveling, watching sports, doing cross word puzzles, playing pinochle and spending time with family and friends.

Dorothy was a life-time member of the Methodist Church.

Dorothy is survived by her twin sister, Doris Hartford of Madison, Miss.; one daughter, Betty Carlyle of Sunnyside; two sons, Floyd (Bev) Looney of Spokane and Bill (Trudy) Looney of Tacoma; daughters-in-law, Darlene of Newport, Colleen of Redmond, and Jean of Post Falls, Idaho.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Floyd; daughter, Dorothy; two sons, Guy T. Looney and Sam M. Looney; three sisters; one brother; and son-in-law, Gene Carlyle.

Smith Funeral Home LTD and Crematory in Sunnyside is in charge of arrangements.
