Mabton pair injured in I-82 rollover mishap

Two Mabton residents sustained injuries early this morning in a one-vehicle rollover accident on I-82, near milepost 91.

Washington State Patrol troopers report that a 2000 Pontiac Grand-Am was westbound on I-82 at about 2:45 a.m. this morning (Friday) when the vehicle veered off the roadway and crossed over a cable barrier. The Grand-Am flipped and came to rest on its top in the eastbound lane.

The driver of the vehicle, said WSP troopers, was 34-year-old Migel Zaragoza of Mabton. He was airlifted to Kadlec Medical Center in the Tri-Cities, then airlifted to Yakima Regional Hospital.

A passenger in his vehicle, Monica W. Olivarez, 31, of Mabton, also was injured. She was transported to Kadlec Medical Center.

The vehicle was totaled as a result of the rollover.
