Fleeing motorist crashes into parked car

This morning (Tuesday) just before 2:30 a.m. Sunnyside Police Officer Johnny Gusby witnessed a vehicle traveling westbound at a high rate of speed in the 300 block of West Edison Avenue. The officer attempted to make a traffic stop, but the suspect failed to pull over. A short pursuit took place before the driver, identified as Patricio Castillo, 38, crashed into a vehicle parked on West Edison Avenue.

Castillo was taken into custody at the scene. The Sunnyside Police Department has requested he be charged for driving under the influence, driving while license suspended third degree, reckless driving and failure to yield to an emergency vehicle.

In other Sunnyside police news, officers have since yesterday responded to three 9-1-1 hang-up calls, two automatic alarms, four animal complaints, a report of an assault, a fight, a reported fraud, two harassment incidents, a missing person report, a suspicious incident, four traffic calls and two vandalism reports. The Sunnyside Police Department has also served three arrest warrants and a court order, provided an agency assist and two citizen assists, and recovered a stolen vehicle.
