Traffic stop yields five felony charges

This past Monday Sunnyside Police Officer Johnnie Gusby contacted the occupants of a black Honda Accord parked in the 700 block of Bagley Drive to make a social contact, one of whom is on active Department of Corrections supervision.

After receiving consent to search the vehicle, Gusby said he found marijuana, a glass pipe and methamphetamine in the back seat of the vehicle.

At the time, the occupant of the back seat of the vehicle, 27-year-old Randy Moreno of Grandview, was taken into custody. Upon searching him, say police officials, numerous pieces of financial information including a bank card, checks and a money order not belonging to Moreno were found in his possession along with small plastic bags used to package controlled substances.

Moreno was booked into the Sunnyside City Jail and transported to the Yakima County Jail on charges of possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine, financial fraud, possession of stolen property and identity theft.
