Sunnyside celebrates Independence Day

Fireworks lit up the sky at Sunnyside's annual Fourth of July celebration last Friday. This year's event took place at Sunnyside High School's Clem Senn Field.

The annual Fourth of July celebration in Sunnyside offered community members live music, good food, fun and sights of wonder last Friday evening at Sunnyside High School's Clem Senn Field.

Community members gathered for the celebration of Independence Day. They spent time eating pulled pork sandwiches, hot dogs, nachos and visiting with one another.

The younger crowd took advantage of sack races offered by this year's Miss Sunnyside candidates and the reigning Miss Sunnyside Court before hearing from Sunnyside Lions Club President Martha Conrad and Sunnyside Mayor Paul Garcia.

Following the National Anthem and a 21-gun salute provided by the Lower Valley color guard, those in attendance were treated to an awesome display of fireworks provided by the Sunnyside Lions Club.

It was an evening in which memories were created.
